Though they’re from the West Coast, Gran Ronde sounds as if they’d fit right in playing alongside Bloc Party or Interpol. The band’s debut album, Secret Rooms, shows off a melodic, post-punk sound with 11 tightly produced songs (including bonus track “Control”). “Wisdom” is one of the more upbeat singles, with its jangly guitars, catchy hooks, and sentimental lyrics about love lost.
Lyrics for Gran Ronde’s Wisdom
I wanna get by just enough to know your name
I wanna get right the words that blacklist all I say
Dancing here since the seventies left,
They left and dropped your hand
I’ve been wishful thinking that
You’d take me back
I wanna get by just enough to call you friend
I wanna not try and tell you off like that again

Sounds like:
Dancing here since the 7 years
That they left in charge of her
