The Puerto Rican DJ known as Dragon was worked as the man behind the decks and producer for artists like Alex y Wibal and Nestor Torres in the past. Now he steps up to the mic with his debut, The New Face. “Nada Sin Ti” nails down the sound of an echoing, cavernous club - pulsing with massive synths and auto-tuned vocals, but with a tight, reggaeton-inspired bounce carrying the melody. If you like the track, check out the album. For more info, visit Dragon’s MySpace Latino page.

On this song, the opening track from Chilean artist Gonzalo Yañez’s self-titled album, Yañez makes the most of every nuance of stereo sound capabilities. Acoustic guitars pan across, outer-space synthesizers meld into sing-song choruses, and Yañez sounds like he’s singing just out of reach. The combined result is a Technicolor dream, part Beatles, and part Flaming Lips.

Famed vocalist Rosario has been creating hits since the early ’90s. The songs featured on her new album, Parte de Mi, celebrate the music of her childhood and her life thus far by embracing the songs of people like Roberto Carlos, Juan Luis Guerra, and one song from her mother, Lola Flores. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, drummer Charly Alberti helped Soda Stereo become one of the most explosive Argentine bands ever. Ten years after the dissolution of Soda Stereo and Charly has returned (alongside his brother Andres and bassist Ezequiel Dasso) to form a new power trio, Mole. “Aqua Castradora” is a grinding bit of riff-rock that doesn’t let up during its raging three minutes.

No amount of post-production magic or amazing samples can provide the sound that Barcelona’s Zulu 9.30 are able to create. They are a full-fledged live band and “Era” is a mixture of boogaloo, salsa, funky reggae, and late night jazz that bubbles over with energy and passion. This enthusiastic group has been recording for the past five years and Huellas is the new album we hope brings them many new additions to their ravenous fan base.

This South American group has been together since the late ’90s, making a name for itself under the more extravagant title of Orgasmic Bliss. Influenced by the post-punk, dark, moody alt-rock of the ’80s, Volumen Cero has created a new, wiry take on these sounds while adding its own touches. “El Mar” is an expansive, raw track that’s underpinned by jittery guitars and noir atmospherics.

The Cypress Hill rapper known for funky Latin lingo keeps it strictly English on Fumble, a serious song about setbacks and redemption. Sen Dogs gruff flow may catch long-time listeners off guard as it bounces atop an industrial beat peppered with DJ scratches and piano, but his signature vocal back-ups punctuate the chorus and give it that Cypress Hill energy. If you like this song, be sure to check out the album.

This sister duo mix up country, pop, and rock influences on their new album Habitación Doble. It’s a sweeping ballad that has a little help from singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile. Previous fans of Ha-Ash may notice a big difference here - the track is in English. The sisters have gained prominence on Mexican charts for their slick, roots-y pop but have branched out on this new album.

The three Dominican Americans who make up Unique grew up on a mixture of bachata, salsa and hip-hop. Bachata’s influence is heard in those requinto guitars which are pitched a bit higher than your traditional guitars. The trio’s back-and-forth melodies are straight-up R&B, while the entire track is a light, percussive groove. If you like this song, check out the the full-length album.
