The quartet known as I Nine from South Carolina first came to our attention when they were included on the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s film Elizabethtown. Now the group’s Avril-meets-Evanescence mixture of moodiness and big pop hooks is available as our Single of the Week.

Many eyes are on ADELE, whose appearances in the U.K. made many think they were hearing the new voice of powerful, orchestrated neo-soul. Indeed, the song “Chasing Pavements” has proven to be a huge success for her back home in England. This week, we’re featuring another track from her upcoming album. “Hometown Glory” is a heart-wrenching, piano driven mixture of pride and nostalgia.

Florida’s We the Kings is a punk-edged pop group that just relased their debut last October. “Check Yes Juliet” is a jaunty power-pop tune with a crunchy veneer and glossy, catchy harmonies.

Maria Jose is best known in Mexico for having been part of Kabah, which reached its peak in the late 90s. Although the group was initially considered another bubblegum pop band in the Mexican music scene, the band earned credibility, popularity and album sales with time.

In 2007, her first solo album, Maria Jose, was announced and the first single Quien Eres Tu?, featuring Trey Songz and of dance and hip-hop influences, started to pick up airplay in Mexico. Quien Eres Tu has already reached the Mexican Pop Top 40 and is quickly rising in the chart.
