A Filial - Calma Pedro

If the idea of a hip-hop crew from Rio de Janeiro doesn’t get your blood pumping a little faster, then take a quick listen to this track from A Filial’s first U.S. album. “Calma Pedro” takes much inspiration from Brazil’s vibrant musical scene, from the street sounds of skateboarding hip-hop heads to all-night favela parties. Kalimba - Se Te Olvidó

Kalimba has been in the music business for nearly two decades, especially impressive when you realize that he’s still in his twenties. This track from his third solo album, Mi Otro Yo, is much more rootsy and organic than the pop material he recorded with his first group, OV7. It’s a stormy, mid-paced ballad that draws heavily on electric blues leads and the late-night atmosphere of a whirring Hammond organ. Kalimba’s searing vocals undoubtedly bring the house down. If you like the track, check out the album. For more info, visit Kalimba’s MySpace Latino page.

Jadiel - Pretty Girl

Eric Bobo - Muevelo (feat. Outthere, Minus P. & Unkwon)

The son of Latin jazz legend Willie Bobo, Eric Bobo has spent time performing with Cypress Hill and the Beastie Boys. His solo album features collaborations from Cypress Hill, Tony Touch, and Delinquent Habits’ very own Kemo the Blaxican. This particular, bass-heavy jam features help from Outthere, Minus P, and Unkwon but works just fine on with it’s dark and dirty rhythm - mixing up a propulsive funk bass line and bare-bones percussion. If you like the track, check out the album. For more info, visit Eric Bobo’s MySpace Latino page.
